Insta-Outfit

Blouse: Free People / Skirt: Chicwish / Booties: Jeffrey Campbell / Hobo: Rebecca Minkoff / Lipstick: MAC Smoked Purple / Hat: Nordstrom / Sunnies: Nordstrom / Jacket: Rotita /

Ah fall. The styling possibilities are endless. What I'm loving lately is a look that isn't too trendy and involves great investment pieces that can be recycled in your wardrobe year after year. I've always loved the balance between ultra-feminine and edgy pieces, and this street style look makes me feel like I'm in #Girlboss mode crossing busy streets in NYC.

A lace blouse, a swingy, floral skirt and tough add-on's are my favorite kind of fashion formula!

My Boss Beauty Picks

Aug 2, 2016

So I'm trying something a little different today and sharing my current loves in my makeup bag. I usually don't wear makeup during the week since I work and go straight to the gym after, but I do on the weekends. I'm definitely not Kylie-mode with the 15 step process but if something goes on my face, I want it to be healthy. I'm a weirdo when it comes to my face as I feel paranoid that everything will clog my pores so when I look to purchase makeup and skincare products, I make sure they are as anti-acne friendly as possible. Keep reading on for my review on my favorite picks!

Bare Minerals matte liquid lipstick: The creamiest matte lip color with amazing color, consistency and coverage.  Perfect for that sexy, nude pout.

NYX Micro Brown Pencil : By far my favorite brow tool. I don't like the "brows on fleek" look where they look painted on and waxy so this super-thin pencil lets you create thin brush strokes and then brush them into your natural brow.

NARS 'Orgasm' Blush : Looks good on every skin tone/color. Period.

NYX 'Wonder Stick' : Contouring made easy with a creamy stick for easy application. Super easy to blend and looks natural.

MAC 'False Lashes' Mascara : I've tried a ton of mascara's and this in my favorite. It doesn't get clumpy, and really gives me long and voluminous lashes. This is a must!

NYX natural shadow palette : My $5 version of 'kyshadow's' for a natural smoky eye. I never spend a lot of money on eye shadow as it's all basically made the same and if you want a darker, more dramatic pigmentation, add some water to the tip of your brush!

Cover FX blemish control + matte primer : I never cared for SmashBox primer and then I tried this one and love it. If it is a product that goes directly on my skin before makeup, I will pay more for it especially if it helps keep my pores clear. This is salicylic acid acne control and mattefying so it is the best of both worlds. My makeup looks smooth as velvet over top of this primer. Plus, it doesn't feel super greasy or emulsified like the SmashBox one.

Besides the above basic picks, I also use a beauty blender and various brushes. I start my make-up process with clean skin, Clinique moisture thirst cream, under-eye primer, my Cover FX primer, then I go to town.

What are your favorite tried and true products for beauty? I would love suggestions for some great lip color combos, as I have so many lipsticks but always want more!

Loving Lately

Feb 10, 2016

I'm craving spring people! I've already got my list started of what I want to refresh my wardrobe. How great are these bright, saturated colors for spring? I love that this year there is a resurgence of the primary colors and not just pastels.Personally I love to rock bright in-yo-face colors on my feet, but I can't help but want all of the above. That moto jacket?! ughh love. And yes, I am still obsessed with lace-up's. I just purchased those red ones, and I can't wait to get them! Typically my style is not girly, but as soon as I saw that rainbow striped sequin dress from Kate Spade, I saw possibilities. Layer with a tee, add a neck scarf, wear with a black turtleneck and tights until the snow melts; no need to wait to start rocking some cheery pieces. How about the neck scarf trend? I personally would take that gorgeous silk scarf and wrap it around the handles of my handbag to add a fun punch of print and color. And the choker necklace trend? Try the sophisticated approach and rock a classy gold chain collar necklace that hits right under the throat for a grown-up take on the 90's look.
That furry little chunk of a groundhog better be right that spring is around the corner because I've got spring fever. So excited for fashion week to start this week, I'll be sure to post my favorites later!

Ruffles & Plaid

Dec 14, 2015

Necklace: The Limited (old) // Blouse: Banana Republic, 40% off! // Skirt: J.Crew (sold out) similar here // Pumps: BCBG (old) // Bag: Chanel // Lips: MAC Russian Red

Nothing like a good, old classic red and green tartan plaid for Christmastime. I paired silver accessories for a young, fresh take on a classic holiday outfit which also added some dressy shine!

I'm in love with this blouse over any I ever wore due to the ruffles and the comfort. This blouse comes in 4 other colors, and it is simply stunning. I can't wait to pair this fancy basic with my other holiday bottoms like sequin leggings, sequin skirts, leather pants, etc.

I love getting dressy for the holidays!

So I saw an awesome video on Friday about Adele who went undercover in an Adele lookalike contest, and I was going to link it here, but it wont work for some reason so go google it, because you have to watch it. It's great. So then I was getting ready, listening to the Adele station on Pandora, and thought 'hey, I'm gunna try to do my makeup like Adele tonight'. Now I keep it real with you guys, I'm not much into wearing a lot of makeup anymore.

In college, I would get up early and do full makeup and hair before carefully selecting my outfit for my morning classes, then switching into another after lunch. When I worked at Marciano with my girlfriends, it was like a fashion show everyday. Full on hair, makeup, heels, the works. Then as soon as I hit 25 (true story) my skin started to change, and I noticed that no matter what makeup I wore, I always broke out the next day. My makeup routine the past two years is usually concealer, eyebrows, mascara and lipstick. It takes 5 minutes, and I look awake and pretty. I plan on doing a post soon about my cosmetic picks, and my 5 minute makeup. So on with the Adele thing (mind you the only time I wear eyeliner and foundation are at events, weddings, etc.) I did full makeup, contour, etc. and within 10 minutes, I already wanted to wash my face. Maybe its a mental thing, but I feel like when I wear face makeup, I can feel it clogging my pores and I know I shouldn't touch my face and I hate that. Its a habit. For the record, I switch between Chanel and Bare Minerals foundation, so its not cheap stuff.

I ended up happy with the results, and even texted my bff Andrea "1. you should feel honored I'm putting on makeup for you tonight, and 2. If Anthony wants to propose, tell him I would take advantage of it tonight since I'm not sure when the next time is my face will look this fancy".

Regardless, when your outfits on fleek, and your makeup's on fleek, and everything's on fleek, you feel good (I loathe fleek, fyi). So it was another weekend of friends with dinners and a birthday brunch, where I realized that me and Anthony may be the only people who cant eat anything that's not breakfast food before 2:00 pm.

Cheers to a short week!

Red, White and Blue

I wanted something patriotic for today, seeing what went on over the weekend. It's a great coincidence that France's flag is blue, white and red, the opposite of ours, so in a sense, this post goes out to them.

After 9/11 my mom told me that she prayed back in the day that when she was to have kids, they would never know what war is like. At least I knew that peace she wanted for me till then. There is violence in the world everyday, some we hear about, some we don't. I try not to dwell on bad news, but for some reason I couldn't shake that sad, sad feeling this weekend of the unfortunate souls in Paris. What is the point of killing innocent people? My heart and prayers go out to them, as that is all I can do. And hopefully their nation can heal, knowing that the rest of the world stands with them, we stand together, as one.

Here's to peace someday.
