Power Outfit

Jul 23, 2018

One of those outfits that’s perfect for work, interviews, church, etc. and one of my favorites hands down. As soon as I picked up this blouse (one of the most flattering and goes with so much) I knew how I would style it. These colors are so fresh for summer and ads some personality and chic style to a more conservative look!

The Best Fitness Apparel For Under $100

Feb 10, 2017

Today I thought I’d share a couple of my favorite brands of fitness apparel for their price, style and comfort of the pieces. Fitness is a huge part of weekly routine so I look for styles that are sporty-chic that I can wear from the gym to running out to lunch, and especially clothes that are easy to move in and just so darn comfortable, I can live in them. Below are my favorite 5 and why you should try them if you haven’t already!!

ZELLA

A cult favorite from Nordstrom for sure, they have the cutest tops with details like cut-outs and mesh, and lots of bright colors. Their selling point however is the “live-in” legging….you can guess why!

IVY PARK

This brand surprised me. Now stash your pitchforks, but I’ve never liked Beyonce, ever. So when I heard she had a new fitness line, I rolled my eyes and only imagined that ridiculous amounts of money she’d make from that. I was looking for a high-waisted pair of stretch leggings though and saw the gradient ones online and ordered them. When I unpacked them, they waist looked teeny-tiny but when I tried them on, holy crap are they comfortable! I literally feel like I’m wearing nothing and its just as good as my damn $100 Nike leggings for less than half the price. Also, even if some of the styles are a little outrageous and fake-sporty for everyday life, they still are cool.

FILA

Let me just say that I have been rocking the FILA since I was a little. Gotta show some love for the old-school brands. FILA is just plain street-wear cool, and every time I rock it, in my head I’m in the 90’s again, drinking Pepsi and watching Fresh Prince episodes with my big brother.

OLD NAVY ACTIVE

My first active apparel I ever bought due to price points and budget was ON active wear. They are always dependable for great tissue tee’s and tanks and high-waisted crops which I love since I’m petite. They always have fun and fresh prints and colors and almost always are on sale.

FREE PEOPLE

The chicest, feminine, slightly bohemian twist on athleisure can be found here. I love their unique styling and detailing on their leggings and bra’s, and you can find patterns and colors here that you can’t find in another brand. They blend the whole “street-wear / fitness” look perfectly.

What are some other brands that you love?

Fall-ing for Autumn Neutrals

Nov 7, 2016

Dress: Bloom Boutique / Vest: Old Navy / Booties: Joe's Jeans / Hat: Nordstrom / Bag: Kate Spade

How beautiful is this school campus?! I felt like I was in the south with the big, brick buildings and tree-lined walkway's. It was the perfect backdrop for a fall, neutral look featuring a midi-dress and simply chic accessories. This dress is a light olive green color with mock-neck and open back in a stretch knit that made it perfect for twirling in the leaves! On Wednesday I'll share how I switched up my accessories for a second look.

The Most Versatile Dress

Oct 21, 2016

Dress: Old Navy / Vest: Derek Lam for Kohls / Booties: Old / Bag: Nordstrom / Earrings: Charming Charlie

Not quite sure why these pictures are so grainy, my camera must've been on the wrong shooting mode.
Anyways, This. Dress. As soon as I got it, a million ways to style it went rushing through my brain, so I will warn in advance that you will see this dress on repeat. Not only is the color perfect for fall/winter, but its long sleeve,  a little billowy and lightweight enough for layering.
My first look? All black dressy add-on's for sweetest day dinner. I've had this vest for years and it is such a great style for layering. And these booties? Velvet dreams I tell you. Just sleek enough to be sexy without being too much.

Can't wait to show other ways to style this, it is definitely a must-have fall staple! Stay tuned!

Style Challenge Look 3: Black & White Street Chic

Sep 12, 2016

Top: Anthropologie / Dress: White House Black Market / Flats: Old Navy / Bag: Nordstrom

So a couple fun facts about this look: this is my hair's natural texture, this dress is actually a top, and my choker is a piece of cut ribbon (I wasn't about to spend money on a Kardashian fad).

I got this "dress" from White House Black Market 9 years ago, and it has been such a staple piece for me year-round. It's a lightweight shift dress, so it's nice in the summer for work, and then in the winter I layer a black turtleneck under it with tights and boots. For now, I put it over a flounce-sleeve top I got from Anthropologie 2 years ago and have never worn before. Funny, how bell-sleeves, flounce-sleeves and large sleeves in general are a trend for this fall. I added some slick back flats, silver jewelry and swiped a piece of ribbon from my mom's gift wrapping station.
Come time when its chilly out, I will swap the lace-up flats for black booties and cover my shoulders with my trusty moto jacket.

I absolutely love fun outfits like this one where the layering options are endless. I'm sure you will see this outfit a couple more ways come fall!

Transitioning a LBD for fall

Sep 9, 2016

Vest: Target / Booties: Dolce Vita / Dress: Old Navy / Necklace: Nordstrom / Earrings: Brighton /
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff / Ring: Bauble Bar

So I think my cat swiped my camera's sd card and is hoarding it wherever she hides her fortunes. Hence, the not so great quality of my pics since they were taken on the good 'ol iPhone. You know those artsy commercials from Apple with the cool music showing videos and photos taken on the iPhone that are legit amazing? Yeah I never got that memo.

I digress. Still on a kick with this vest and booties from Target, since they are literally THE perfect summer to fall transition pieces. This summer was all about the Kardashian-inspired body-con look, and this black knit version is thick enough to be rolled right into some fall layered looks. Black, nude and olive are my favorite neutrals this season. Add on jewelry and accessories with gold details, and you've got a simple yet chic look perfect for anything.

Keep the #nospendseptember challenge going!

Beach Day Musts!

Jul 18, 2016

So like a true female, when I pack for the beach or pool I practically need a suitcase, andddd I don't even have rugrats yet (but let's be real, my everyday bag is a damn suitcase anyway).  My swim style is pure fun with cheeky and bright extras, no basic beach here!

Must have 1: a sun hat. Ever hear of shopbetches.com? What a gem they are. This hat is probably still sold out, but since my normal style is more sporty than girly, this is my jam. Plus, you know my love for a witty sarcastic saying.
Must have 2: a big-ass tote to carry all my crap. If you pay attention to detail like me, I like a theme-specific accessory.
Must have 3: A fun beach read. Oh Babe Walker, white girl problems abound. I can't wait to devour this story of Babe who is most likely hungover throughout this book.
Must have 4: a non-boring beach towel. MAN I LOVE DONUTS. Hence, this towel is a muuuuust.
Must have 5:  A glam, eco-friendly water bottle to keep my water cold (I love my yeti, but this is a slimmer fit for a beach bag)
Must have 6: Punchy nail colors
Must have 7: Sunscreen that's a triple threat. One that protects, bronzes and perfects the skin? Heck yeah, no boring sunscreen here!
Must have 8: a float big enough to sprawl out on. Basic, I know but I mean come on, how fun. It's like floaties for grown-up's.
Must have 9: A slide-on flat sandal, because there's nothing fashionable about flip flops.
Plus gold and perforation on a slide? So pool deck chic.
Must have 10: The suit. So I have a love/hate relationship with bathing suits because so many of them are cut and fit the same, but not all bodies are the same obviously. I'm petite and athletic with no chest so bikini's are ok, and my torso is too short for most one-pieces. Through trial and error I have found that sporty styles suit me best, so that's what I gravitate to towards now. This pink one from Nordstrom however is too fun to pass up. A sleek one-piece design with a cut-out that a petite girl can actually wear. Why? The bottom is similar to a high-waist and full coverage bottom and the cut-out design visually elongates the torso. And in the perfect shade of pink, this is a winner.
Must have 11: A practical cover-up. Listen, I'm not going to wear a kimono, or sarong, or caftan with tassles. If I want to grab a smoothie or lunch after, I want to feel suitable to go out in public. My hot weather cover-up of choice is short denim overalls. They're fun, sporty, and I can let one strap hang loose, throw on a baseball cap and I'm good to go!

This is what you would find in my beach bag, what's in yours? Anything good I'm missing?

Welcome Spring!

Romper (on sale!) // Shoes (old, Seychelles) // Bag // Jewelry (mix of vintage & Nordstrom)

How much do I love a good one-piece? Ask anyone who knows me, give me a onesie, jumpsuit or romper and I'm a happy girl. From the pj onesie's I own, to the dressy jumpsuits I wear to a wedding or cocktail party, to casual rompers for the summer, there is no easier piece to wear and style! This romper is from Old Navy, and after I ordered it, I was a little worried it wouldn't wear well but I was pleasantly surprised. It fits perfectly and is so cute and flattering. I'm really impressed lately with the standard of products Old Navy has been producing, and when cute pieces like this are on sale, it's too good to pass up. I can't wait to throw on my denim jacket and add some white sneakers for another fun look, but the combinations are endless. For this look I added cognac accessories and piled on silver and blue jewelry (also this matte lip cream from NYX I just got is officially my favorite, it is a bright berry tone). Another thing that I like about one-pieces? They are flattering on all body types, comfortable and blank canvases to style. Find more rompers to love at Old Navy and Lulu's!
