September Style Challenge: Look 1!

I've decided to take the ultimate stylist's challenge and re-work my entire wardrobe for one month of new outfits, from the pieces I already own. That's right, no shopping for one month!  This can be a good thing both for your wallet and your creativity though. The end of every summer, my fashion choices get so stale because in this 'transitional' season, it's still hot as balls in Sept in The Land. 

My first outfit features an olive green sleeveless vest and neutral booties for a flirty, transitional look. I paired an older skirt with a bodysuit from earlier this summer, and some fun earrings to play off the skirt.

My Favorite Denim Picks for Petites!

 

 

 

True story: When I started my freshman year at college I owned exactly 2 pairs of jeans. I hated them (I hated pants in general) but fast forward to now, and I have countless pairs, but only a few beloved ones. 

I felt like I never stop searching for that perfect fit, that skin-tight pair that hits right at the ankle and is crazy flattering; well I found them. Through trial and error, I have found what brands and styles work best for my figure (I'm 5'2) and I'm sharing my absolute favorites below.

 DITTO'S

 

 Ditto's can be found at Nordstrom and other online retailers. These are skinny's with ankle side-zipper's, and hit right at my ankle. I have a couple pairs of Ditto's since they have trendy styles at great price points.

TREASURE & BOND 

 

 T&B is another label found at Nordstrom. I love the way their denim fits and feels on; it isn't stiff or uncomfortable, and keeps it's shape while giving a little bit of stretch in the waist. I have a deconstructed black pair of T&B and am obsessed with them. Also, check out their other products like casual and chic tees and shoes.

ZARA

 

 Most. Comfy. Jeans. Ever. (period) Oh, and if I had a dollar for every time an old person asked, "where is the rest of your pants?" or "did you pay full price for pants that ruined??" I'd be a rich bitch.

BANANA REPUBLIC

 

No secret I love Banana, but their denim selection is great. These skinny's are actually from their petite section, and fit amazing. Just enough stretch, but no one near a jegging. When going with petite's at BR, I went with my regular size.

 LEVI'S

 

This is my only pair of this brand, but I was so excited at all the choices in length for their styles. these are skinny ankle cropped jeggings with a high waist. The best part is you can get these anywhere in any color and are super affordable.

So I am happy to say that all these years later, I am finally content with my jean closet. I can't imagine spending $200 on a pair of jeans when all these brands I love are much more affordable, especially if they are more of a "trendy" style. Spring Fashion Blogger Event At Aurora Farms Premium Outlets

My $75 outfit: Earrings: Rue 21 // Jumpsuit: Banana Republic Factory Store // Handbag: Rue 21

Last weekend I had the awesome opportunity to attend a bloggers fashion challenge at Aurora Farms Premium Outlets where I got to meet other Cleveland area fashion bloggers and students. The morning started off with mimosas, fruit and cupcakes and we were paired up and given our tasks. I was paired up with Nadine from BlogTheNewBlack (check out her blog for real and funny life and fashion) and our task was to each find an outfit of our choosing for...wait for it: UNDER $75. Well, challenge brought. I am not a clearance rack shopper and I never have the luck of catching sales, so this was new for me. What did I learn from it? Well I don't like pressure when I have a thousand chic ideas running through my head, but it was so fun! Needless to say, Nadine snagged the #ootd and I was pretty darn happy with my loot as well. Using the amazing stores and discounted prices at Aurora Farms, I got a chic culotte one-piece, some tassel earrings, and an edgy black handbag all for just under $75. The rest of the afternoon consisted of showcasing our finds to guests and the Fashionably Cleveland team at Thorncreek Winery where we kicked back, drank some wine, and stuffed our faces. OK, and snap-chatted, and tweeted, and all that blogger-y stuff. 

Anyways, when looking for an outfit, I decided I wanted to go with one statement piece, this being the jumpsuit, and subtly accent it; hence why I spent the majority of my money of that piece and saved on the trendy accessories. I know that this jumpsuit will be timeless and chic, and I can think of so many ways to style it. Below I show my favorite ways to rock this look, from work to a night out for dinner and drinks. All I did was change out my jackets and shoes, add a blingy watch for wrist stack and convert my cross body bag into an edgy clutch, and I have a completely different look. Check them out!

Feeling Grid-y!

Nothing to brighten up a day like a feminine, flirty dress and chic, casual extras. This dress is actually an off-the-shoulder style, but I think it's cuter pulled up!. I love how light and swingy this dress is, and I can definitely style it either dressier or casual ( I cannot wait to pair it with my Topshop red lace up flats).  I had a blogging event I went to this day so I wanted something current and on-trend but incorporated with my personal style. I decided to look chic and polished but spring time appropriate and fun in a fitted denim jacket, gold accessories and nude strappy sandals (which I just got and I'm in love). And even though a large-scale print is the main focus of the outfit (hence why I paired lighter accessories) I wanted a statement, so enter these fab floral statement earrings (which is so different for me, I'm usually such a edgy stud girl) and I'm feeling flirty and fresh for spring.

Ever been told at 25 that your too old to have your wisdom teeth out? How about at 27 when they start lecturing you that you're pushing 30? Well here's some freaking wisdom for you, DONT WAIT TILL YOUR PUSHING THIRTY TO GET YOUR WISDOM TEETH OUT. Seriously, this is the shits guys, and not in the cool way. I guess my youth is gone, and with that my mouths ability to heal at a normal pace. Balls.

Well while I've been in a not-so-pretty slumber thanks to my good friend Vic, I've at least had the ability to use my hands and put them to use by online shopping (well, window shopping that is). With spring in the air comes that feeling that I want to purge my closet and start anew, this time with grown-up chic pieces that are playful, polished, easy and able to play well with others. Nothing about me is simple, but I am feeling easy silhouettes in light fabrics. While I want to get away from the cutesy looks, I am definitely gravitating towards rompers and jumpsuits this spring that can be layered a bajillion ways for day to night with extras like sneaks, wedges, hats, sunnies, and the perfect moto jacket (obsessed with all things moto jacket). I'm craving spring people! I've already got my list started of what I want to refresh my wardrobe. How great are these bright, saturated colors for spring? I love that this year there is a resurgence of the primary colors and not just pastels.Personally I love to rock bright in-yo-face colors on my feet, but I can't help but want all of the above. That moto jacket?! ughh love. And yes, I am still obsessed with lace-up's. I just purchased those red ones, and I can't wait to get them! Typically my style is not girly, but as soon as I saw that rainbow striped sequin dress from Kate Spade, I saw possibilities. Layer with a tee, add a neck scarf, wear with a black turtleneck and tights until the snow melts; no need to wait to start rocking some cheery pieces. How about the neck scarf trend? I personally would take that gorgeous silk scarf and wrap it around the handles of my handbag to add a fun punch of print and color. And the choker necklace trend? Try the sophisticated approach and rock a classy gold chain collar necklace that hits right under the throat for a grown-up take on the 90's look. 

That furry little chunk of a groundhog better be right that spring is around the corner because I've got spring fever. So excited for fashion week to start this week, I'll be sure to post my favorites later!

Metallics, Faux Fur, Leather, Ruffles and Fringe, Oh My!

I love sequins. I love them so much, I usually try to find ways to incorporate them into looks all year round for a subtle glam. For New Years, however, I feel it is a perfect night to hit refresh.

Above, I posted a couple non-sequin party looks for New Years Eve, no matter how you celebrate. Don't be afraid to rock fringe, feathers, metallic, lace, faux leather and fur and bedazzled accessories. This winter (if you can call it that, I am loving this California winter in Cleveland!) I'm really feeling the moody, dark, romantic glamour with lace midi dresses with ribbon chokers; luxurious, royal baroque fabrics in a current fashion-forward cut (any Reign watcher's out there? Nasty Gal is rocking the royal dress and crown look), estate-sale looking vintage earrings, and party shoes that are embellished with furry poufs and gems (Asos has a great collection).

 

This NYE, I plan on rocking a second-skin lace slip dress with a faux-fur jacket and killer heels. Hopefully these looks have inspired some other party appropriate inspirations for choosing your NYE outfit. Start 2016 with a fresh look- mini, skin-tight sequin dresses are tired : )

Nothing like a good, old classic red and green tartan plaid for Christmastime. I paired silver accessories for a young, fresh take on a classic holiday outfit which also added some dressy shine!

 

I'm in love with this blouse over any I ever wore due to the ruffles and the comfort. This blouse comes in 4 other colors, and it is simply stunning. I can't wait to pair this fancy basic with my other holiday bottoms like sequin leggings, sequin skirts, leather pants, etc.
